How to Get a Permit to Carry a Concealed Weapon in Indiana
    http://www.ehow.com/how_2061097_get-permit-carry-concealed-weapon.html

Indiana is a “shall issue” state. The issuing authority for a carry and conceal weapons (CCW) permit is the chief of police or county sheriff. Indiana’s CCW permit does not qualify as a National Instant Criminal System (NICS) check. The following steps will help you obtain a CCW permit in Indiana.

    Step 1:
Receive a CCW permit from any other state. You must be a resident of Indiana or a non-resident employed in Indiana to apply for an Indiana CCW permit.

    Step 2:
Fill out a one-page application with the police department or county sheriff’s office and provide photo identification and your fingerprints.

    Step 3:
Pay the applicable fees. In addition to the permit fee–and there are two types of permits, a four-year and a lifetime permit–fingerprinting also comes with a fee. If the application is denied, a portion of the fees will be refunded. The fingerprints will be forwarded to the Indiana State Police, so some issuing authorities may charge you postage or a notary fee.

    Step 4:
Receive your permit in six to eight weeks. You do not need to inform the police you are carrying a concealed weapon, but you must present your permit upon demand and you should also carry your driver’s license or photo ID.

    Step 5:
Know that your permit will not allow you to carry a weapon on school property (public or private), the controlled areas of an airport, a riverboat casino, state fair or shipping port. You may, however, carry a firearm when transporting someone to or from school or to a school function.

The following are undisputed shall-issue ( permit to carry ) states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming THE stae of ALASKA does not issue or is a permit required of any kind as long as you have no criminal back round.
These state have what is known as reciprocity agreement. Simply meaning if you have a permit in one of these states it will be good in any of these other states . There are several web pages produce by each state and you should check that states current status befor attepting to carry in that state. Best to check with thate states state police in advance.
This web page has all current states as of today that have a RECIPROCITY agreement.and is kept current and is maintained by the state of Florida. http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/news/concealed_carry.html
The federal goverment issues a fire arms permit to transport between state lines only. There IS NO Federal permit to “Carry” a Conceled weapon. You must keep in mind that the RECIPROCITY agreement works like a driver license in that the laws in the state your in must be observed for that state concerning CW permit. ie some states permit allows you to carry just about any weapon while most only allow you to carry a hand gun
All states in the USA have a agreement mandated by federal law that police officers have leagel right to carry in what ever state there in.

. Many of these states agreement includ Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (federal law)
In 2004, the United States Congress enacted the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, 18 U.S. Code 926B and 926C. This federal law allows two classes of persons — the “qualified law enforcement officer” and the “qualified retired law enforcement officer” — to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of any state or local law to the contrary, with certain exceptions.
e if you have your permit revoke or taken in any state out of the state you got your permit then all of them also revoke your right.
Also keep in mind that the Distric of Columbia ( Washigton D.C. ) does not issue ANY permits to any one. Only law enforcement can carry a conceled weapon and the penalty is very stiff if caught.

Every state has provisions that phorhibit carrying a conceled weapon were a sighn is posted. By posting the signs, businesses create areas where it is illegal to carry a concealed handgun similar to schools, hospitals, and public events.
Airports are governed by fedreal law only. No ONE except law enforcment may carry a weapon of any kind even pepper spray.
I have posted several web pages for you to check on your state as well as Federal license to transport weapons.
